Sinead O’Conner Married Last Night

Famous Irish singer was married last night (on the evening of her 45th Birthday) for the fourth time in a wedding chapel in Las Vegas.

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer and mother-of-four tied the knot with 38-year-old therapist Barry Herridge. The two met after O’Connor advertised for a man on Twitter in August, including posting a list of her requirements.

As she prepared to fly to Las Vegas from Dublin Airport this week, she explained in her blog: “Barry sent me this wonderful email, which just took my heart away. It had to be him.”

O’Connor described the Las Vegas ceremony as “Too glorious for words” on her blog, and promised to give fans and friends more details after she enjoys time with her new husband.

True to character, she also posted a picture of an empty chapel, with the caption: “Photo of the celebrity guests at our wedding.”

The marriage comes just a week after O’Connor jokingly said to Hot Press magazine: “I’ve been married three times, really I should only have been married once.”

Twilight Vampire Fans Beat Bella to the Altar

Bromborough locals Victoria and Eric, both avid fans of the Twilight saga, relived their vampire Halloween wedding as they watched Bella and Edward tie the knot in the latest Breaking Dawn film.

Erik Downie, 36, a civil servant, and Victoria, 30, a biomedical scientist, not only married in black this past Halloween, they also wore specially made fangs.

Victoria commented “We’ve seen all the Twilight movies and really enjoyed Bella and Edward’s love story so it’s great they finally got married. People might think we’re weird having a vampire wedding but we both love vampires and think every-one should choose how they want to get married. It was our day and the memories will remain with us forever.”

The eccentric couple first met while working in a National Rail Enquiries call centre in 2000 and found out they shared a childhood love of vampire films.

Three years later, the pair got engaged and decided to marry after they moved into their first flat.

Victoria added: “At weekends we dress in Gothic outfits and fangs and go to clubs where everyone dresses like us. We all do boring nine-to-five jobs so it makes our lives a bit more interesting.”

Ralph Lauren Creates Stunning Wedding Dress

The spectacular wedding dress of Lauren Bush, who luckily has none other than Ralph Lauren as her father-in-law, has finally been revealed in a Vogue interview.

FEED founder Lauren said she exchanged ideas with Ralph casually before their first official design meeting at his studio this past June.

She also commented on her fascination with watching the design process: “Any experience of a girl picking out her wedding dress is amazing. But I have to say it was really special to work with [husband David Lauren's] dad, to see him in action with his team.”

Lauren then described the beautiful creation itself: “It isn’t Victorian exactly. I wanted something modern as well, so there is the high-necked collar and puffed shoulders with the large open back.”

The top layer of the dress was made of tulle in antique ivory, and it took nearly 100 craftspeople more than 3,000 hours to hand-embroider the tulle with motifs of flowers and Renaissance-era scroll designs in ivory silk and metallic thread, Swarovski Elements crystals and off-white pearl beads.

The wedding took place in a 200-year-old barn on Ralph’s Double RL Ranch in Colorado.

Designer Creates Human Hair Wedding Dress

Seamstress Thelma Madine, who rose to fame on Channel 4’s My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, has taken bizarre bridal wear to the next level with a gown made of human hair.

The eccentric creation will retail for no less than £50,000. It was created with 250m of hair extensions, numerous individual hair wefts as well as 1,500 crystals and 12 underskirts.

Eight people from Nico (the bridal store owned by Madine) worked on the 95kg (15st) dress, alongside stylists from hair salon Voodou.

In addition, the unforgettable gown won the Alternative Miss Liverpool pageant on Saturday.

Ms Madine commented on her aspirations for the dress: “I’d be overwhelmed if someone like Lady Gaga would consider wearing it. In fact, we would be more than happy for her to wear it on her next tour. It’s a unique creation, just like her, and I think it would be a hair match made in heaven!”

Nevertheless, while extrovert performers might be tempted to buy the unique garment, most ordinary people might find their wedding day already a little too hairy without the need for such an extravagant creation.

Couples Flock to Tie the Knot on 11/11/11

With today’s date being 11/11/11 – a memorable occurrence that only happens once a century – wedding fever has been celebrated around the world.

Two of the most popular destinations have been Las Vegas in the US, and the UK’s world famous wedding location in the Scottish Borders town of Gretna and the adjoining village of Gretna Green.

An impressive total of 53 couples said “I do” in Gretna , which accounted for 51 weddings and two civil partnerships. Many lovebirds had flown in from as far afield as New Zealand, Canada and Germany to exchange their vows in the area’s seven wedding venues.

The first newlyweds at Gretna Registration Office today were Rob and Lorraine Taylor, from Coventry. The pair boosted the unforgettable day and date by exchanged their rings at precisely 11am.

A delighted Mr Taylor, 57, commented: “Everything just fell into place for us, the number on our wedding registration form was 1111 and we chose the 11th track on a CD for the ceremony music.”

His bride said: “It was all just meant to be. The date didn’t have a special significance for us before; we just had it in our heads. We love number one, we’re both very competitive and we always like to win, so having all the ones was a really good thing.”

Couple Wed in Halloween Themed Haunted House

A new trend could be emerging which would give new meaning to ‘wedding day jitters’ – Halloween nuptials have taken place this year in a haunted house in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Doing away with sweet romance and elegant glamour, Max Coffman and Sheri Whitt exchanged vows in the presence of ghouls and vampires at a venue called Nightmare on 13th.

Bride Cheri commented: “We met on Halloween, and so I thought what a perfect place to be married – inside a haunted house.”

She added: “I love it. I don’t think it’s creepy. I love the idea of Halloween, and it’s my favourite time of year. And for us, if people think it’s creepy, well, it’s what we want to do.”

No less than the Grim Reaper himself officiated at the couple’s Halloween ceremony, and even their wedding rings were brought out in a tiny coffin.

The newly-weds have not said where they will be celebrating their honeymoon – one can only imagine a location that the Addams Family would approve of…

Vera Wang Shocks with Dark Bridal Gowns

Prestigious designer Vera Wang shocked even the fashionista’s with the exhibition of her Fall 2012 Collection of bridal gowns at New York’s bridal fashion week.

The Queen of wedding couture has introduced a range of gowns in her signature colour – black. While initially there were looks of disbelief at the initial black and beige wedding dress that appeared decidedly like something out of the Adam’s Family as it hit the runway, Wang’s genius for bridal design won through as the collection unfolded.

The audience quickly recovered and became increasingly appreciative of the beautiful and unforgettable bridal dresses.

Many style guru’s have said that Wang’s revolutionary collection is also a sign of the modern times – the blushing brides of traditional weddings are giving way to marriages which increasingly feature gay couples or women who are more mature and successful in their own right. People are increasingly looking to make new rules to suit their individual tastes.

This opens the doors to new cutting-edge traditions using non-white wedding gowns. And if Vera Wang’s collection proves successful, other designers will surely be jumping on the bandwagon to start a whole new trend.

Nikki Reed Marries in Dazzling Diamonds

Twilight actress Nikki Reed, who married her fiancé Paul McDonald earlier this week, wore a magical wedding dress studded with no less than one hundred diamond buttons.

The 23-year-old celebrity has spoken of her delight with the ivory white, body-hugging gown. She collaborated with respected bridal jewellery brand Tacori, which not only crafted the bridal dress, but also created the engagement and wedding bands for the couple.

Michelle Adorjan, designer at Tacori, commented on the spectacular gown: “It was a 40′s classic glamour silhouette. It flows back into a 72-inch train, about six feet. It’s extremely simple. Instead of a traditional, silk wrap button, we did diamond buttons. A little over 100 carats just on the buttons.”

Nikki and Paul tied the knot at a private ranch in Malibu, California. They had only been dating for two months, but have been seen to be very much in love when out in public.

Reed said the following about her special day: “We couldn’t be happier. We were surrounded by our family and friends. We’re so glad this day has come.”

McCartney Ties the Knot

A registry office in London’s Marylebone that had once served as the venue for former Beatle Paul McCartney’s marriage to his first wife Linda 42 years ago, held host to a small civil service on Sunday for his wedding to American-born Nancy Shevall.

The date chosen for the wedding coincides with what would have been the 71st birthday of John Lennon, lending a poignant air to the proceedings.

Paul’s brother Mike served as best man and guests included fellow Beatle Ringo Starr. This time, as opposed to his second marriage, McCartney’s family come out in support of the union.

Following the service, a small reception was held in the back garden of Sir Paul’s house in St John’s Wood, which is situated nearby the famous Abbey Road studios where the majority of the Beatles songs were recorded.

A friend of the iconic musician commented on the proceedings: “The wedding is in keeping with the way Paul and Nancy have conducted their entire relationship – low-key, understated and fuelled by goodwill. Neither of them wanted a huge fuss.”

Spanish Duchess Marries at 85

One of Spain’s most eccentric and wealthy aristocrat’s, the Duchess of Alba, has tied the knot at the age of 85 to a civil servant 25 years her junior named Alfonso Diez.

Crowds gathered outside the southern Spanish city of Seville’s Duenas Palace – just one of several luxurious residences owned by the billionaire Duchess.
It was a relatively intimate ceremony, attended by her family and a few friends. A flamenco singing troupe, at least two bullfighter guests and innumerable bunches of roses, sunflowers and carnations formed part of the celebration.

The Duchess’s inherited wealth is estimated at up to €3.5 billion. There have been numerous reports about how her children were against the marriage, however she won through by distributing her wealth to them and her fiancée also relinquished any rights to her fortune.

Commenting on her husband earlier this year, the Dutchess said: ”Alfonso doesn’t want anything. All he wants is me.”

Cries of ”Guapa!” or ”Good-looking!” welcomed the grand lady when she appeared at the palace gates for the ceremony, dressed in a pink wedding dress with a green ribbon around her waist. She responded by dancing a few spontaneous flamenco steps.

Having been widowed twice before, third time seems to be the charm for the sprightly aristocrat.
