Vera Wang Shocks with Dark Bridal Gowns

Prestigious designer Vera Wang shocked even the fashionista’s with the exhibition of her Fall 2012 Collection of bridal gowns at New York’s bridal fashion week.

The Queen of wedding couture has introduced a range of gowns in her signature colour – black. While initially there were looks of disbelief at the initial black and beige wedding dress that appeared decidedly like something out of the Adam’s Family as it hit the runway, Wang’s genius for bridal design won through as the collection unfolded.

The audience quickly recovered and became increasingly appreciative of the beautiful and unforgettable bridal dresses.

Many style guru’s have said that Wang’s revolutionary collection is also a sign of the modern times – the blushing brides of traditional weddings are giving way to marriages which increasingly feature gay couples or women who are more mature and successful in their own right. People are increasingly looking to make new rules to suit their individual tastes.

This opens the doors to new cutting-edge traditions using non-white wedding gowns. And if Vera Wang’s collection proves successful, other designers will surely be jumping on the bandwagon to start a whole new trend.

GaGa to Marry in Grand Style and Invite Fans

Flamboyant singer Lady GaGa is reportedly planning to tie the knot with her on/off boyfriend Luc Carl later this year and is also said to be intending to invite her fans to the ceremony.

A source told the Daily Star: “She loves her fans so much she’s determined to have them involved in her big day. She’s organising a lottery guest list so her Little Monsters can see her on her special day.”

They added: “She’s promising it’s going to be a spectacular wedding to remember with more than a dozen bridesmaids, trapeze artists, fireworks and a light show. It will be typical GaGa.”

If the plan goes ahead, she will have the wedding in an arena to accommodate everyone. The rumour is that Lady G wants to celebrate her special day at the 18,000-capacity CenturyLink Center in Luc’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. The venue normally stages pop concerts, basketball and ice hockey games.

Apparently, GaGa played there on St Patrick’s Day this year and loved it so much that she thinks it will be the perfect venue for her wedding party.

According to the insider, “She loves her fans so much so she thinks getting married in such a big venue will be an ideal way to thank fans for their support by allowing thousands of them to be there on her big day.”

Sumptuous Indian Wedding Showcase Due in UK

Called The Ardhanginni, the UK’s first Indian wedding, destination and lifestyle show is to make its debut at Olympia 2 in Kensington Square Gardens, from July 15 to 17.

The showcase will present a handpicked range of the finest and most tailored services to be found on the Indian wedding market. It will feature high-end fashion, lifestyle and bridal exhibitions to those who want to celebrate their special day in the colourfully sumptuous style that is the typically Indian wedding.

The exhibition is designed to be the epitome of a fairy-tale romance for all people, regardless of their nationality or cultural background. It supports the fact that Indian wedding themes have increasingly been made popular by celebrity couples such as Russell Brand and Katy Perry.

The event was conceptualised by Cicilia Raj. She commented: “Indian weddings as we know is a unique experience, these occasions are getting grandeur and pompous with a great blend of the Indian and Western styles of celebrations… With emerging trend of non-resident Indians getting married in destinations like Rajasthan, Goa or the lovely beaches in Kerala, the wedding industry in India is rapidly growing at the rate of 9 per cent, and is increasing in its size and splendour.”

Lavish Delhi Wedding Defies Congress Calls to Cut Spending

The Hindu marriage ceremony of Lalit Tanwar and Yogita Jaunapuria on Tuesday night at a family farmhouse near Delhi has been reported to have raised the bar in extravagance.

It took 1000 workers 40 days to prepare the venue. The celebration included 100 dishes (no meat or alcohol were served as per Hindu tradition) and 12 giant TV screens to broadcast proceedings.

The exact details of the wedding which united two prominent political families have been fiercely disputed. Some reports say 18,000 guests were in attendance, others put the figure closer to 30,000. The Times of India calculated the total cost of the occasion at $21.68 million, while the Mail Today quoted $55 million.

The groom himself wore a garland made of banknotes and received a helicopter as a gift. His barber was also awarded a $5,500 gift.

The lavish occasion went ahead despite pleas from Sonia Gandhi, the Congress party leader, for government members and affiliates to cut back on spending.

It has also been reported that in addition to the main event, millions were spent on celebrations beforehand.
