Jake Gyllenhaal Attends Father’s Wedding

A shaven headed Jake Gyllenhaal served as groomsman at his director father’s recent intimate beach wedding to Kathleen Man on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.

The bride, who is also a film maker, wore a traditional white linen dress to tie the knot with Jake’s father Stephen Gyllenhaal.

Jake chose a casual look with khaki trousers and a brown shirt for the informal ceremony. It was attended by about 30 guests, who kept with the island theme by wearing traditional Hawaiian wreaths, known as Leis, which are worn as a symbol of affection, love or friendship.

Also in attendance was Jake’s actress sister Maggie Gyllenhaal, who wore a long floral dress to witness her father tying the knot.

The Hawaii location was of special significance to the bride, who had attended the Punahou School there and is a native of the island.

Stephen had separated from Jake’s mother and wife of 32 years Naomi Foner, who also works in the film industry, in 2009. He is best known for directing the Emmy nominated “Paris Trout”, which starred Dennis Hopper, Barbara Hershey and Ed Harris.

Actor Karthi Marries in Traditional Style

Actor Karthi and partner Ranjini celebrated a memorably elaborate wedding at Coimbatore as the sun rose yesterday morning.

Traditional styles in terms of ambience and attire ruled the event. The bride Ranjini looked radiant in a mustard yellow silk sari, with temple jewellery elegantly accessorising her gown. Karthi was dressed in a crisp white shirt, veshti and angavastram.

The special occasion was attended by the close friends and family of the couple, and onlookers were also treated to a celebrity entertainer attendance that included actresses Nagma and Radhikaa, actors Prabhu and Karthik Kumar, directors Bala, K S Ravikumar and Lingusamy.

Suriya and Sivakumar were seen in white shirts and silk bordered veshtis, while Jyothika stood out in a gold colour silk sari.

The wedding celebration presented some interesting moments that caused laughter amongst the crowds. At one point, Karthi made a mistake while attempting to lift himself up while Ranjini was being garlanded. The photo session proved rather confusing in the arrangement of which guests to pose, requiring the adept skills of Suriya to restore order.

Kate Moss to Marry in Style This Weekend

Kate Moss is set to marry musician Jamie Hince in a three-day affair at her 10-bedroom Cotswolds country estate this weekend.

The nuptials will be reasonably small by supermodel standards, with guests numbers reported to be around the 150 mark. Famous names in attendance will include Stella McCartney, Daphne Guinness, Amanda Harlech, and Naomi Campbell.

There will also be a host of famous musicians performing live for the occasion, such as The Rolling Stones, Shirley Bassey, Iggy Pop and Snoop Dog.

Following much debate, a prominent fashion industry insider who knows Moss well has said that the bride will wear a wedding gown created by her friend John Galliano, the famous designer who is currently on trial in France for allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks in a restaurant earlier this year. He too is expected to attend the special occasion

The Daily Telegraph has rumoured the catering for the event to include Keith Richards’s shepherd pie and Steve Tyler’s Thai curry. Drinks will by inspired by The Jamaica Inn in the Caribbean, Moss’s favourite hotel.

A further rumour indicates that the official photographer will be Mario Testino, to be published on the cover of Vogue’s September issue.

Ugly Betty Star Marries Long Term Boyfriend

America Ferrera of ‘Ugly Betty’ fame married boyfriend Ryan Piers Williams on Monday night in upstate New York.

The intimate wedding took place on the lawn at the Chappaqua home of Ms Ferrera’s co-star Vanessa Williams. She was clothed in an Amsale’s Christos wedding dress along with Fred Leighton earrings for the special day.

The ceremony was officiated by actress Judith Light and the small group of family and friends who attended included Rebecca Romijn, Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn and Jerry O’Connell.

The couple met while they were film students at USC and have been living together since 2007. Ms Ferrera and Mr Williams first announced their engagement last June.

The 27-year-old Emmy-winner elected not to slim-down for her wedding as would most brides – and she looked lovely. While Ms Ferrera is known for keeping her private life under wraps, she has always been outspoken about her weight, saying: “I don’t really think about it to be honest. It’s not hard to ignore, because I find it all so ridiculous.”

Prince Albert of Monaco to Wed This Week

Son of the Hollywood star Grace Kelly and successor to the throne of Monaco, Prince Albert, will wed former Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock this week.

Prince Albert first saw South African Ms Wittstock when she was 22 and competing in a Monaco swimming competition. They bonded over a love of sport and Ms Wittstock moved to Monaco five years ago when an injury ended her swimming career.

Now 33, South African born Ms Wittstock has won a reputation as a fashion symbol, although she is famously nervous about manners and how to dress and talk. She has been taking French lessons, although she is not as yet fluent.

It is hoped that Ms Wittstock will return Monaco to its glamorous golden era when the American star Grace Kelly became crown princess after marrying Prince Rainier.

The wedding in Monaco will entail an opulent two-day extravaganza, with tens of thousands of tourists expected to bear witness to the fairytale “prince and commoner” union.

Prince Albert is set to show off his ‘Green’ credentials by staging the newlywed procession in an open-top electric Lexus.

Hair Tips for Kardashian Wedding

There has been much talk about the preparations for Kim Kardashian’s upcoming wedding to Kris Humphries, and now a famous New York stylist has suggested how the bride-to-be should wear her hair on the special day.

Stylist Alma G. of the Alma Salon in New York City, who boasts clients such as Alicia Witt, Rosario Dawson, Steven Tyler, Ashton Kutcher, and Keri Russell, commented:

“I think Kim would look great with a flamenco dancer-inspired updo,” Alma tells Wetpaint exclusively. “Looking chic at last year’s Emmy Awards, her updo enhances her beauty, dress, and accessories by boasting her features. It is actually a look that is great for all hair types. The hair is blown out for a smooth start. You don’t want a middle part — too dramatic. A side part will soften her look.”

She added: “Or another option is to pull the hair straight back. The secret is to tease the ponytail, and then roll it up into a chic chignon or bun. You want fullness in the bun so it shows on both sides of your neck. Your finish is important: brush the top layer of the bun for a smooth sleek look. A beautiful diamond earring or beautiful hair accessory will also be a great addition for her overall hairstyle.”

Paul McCartney Set to Marry New Bride

It was thought that following his nightmare divorce from Heather Mills, former Beatle Paul McCartney would never again tie the knot. But the star has surprised all by announcing his engagement to American socialite and businesswoman Nancy Shevell this year.

The couple have been friends for over 20 years. They began quietly dating in 2007.

McCartney presented Ms Shevell with a vintage 1925 Cartier solitaire diamond worth £400,000 when he popped the question. While the pair have not as yet revealed the exact date for their nuptials, sources have indicated a summer wedding.

Following the official registration in front of the Justice of the Peace with only a small circle of family and close friends in attendance, the low-key reception is due to be held in the Hamptons.

In keeping with her usual style, Ms Shevell is expected to choose a wedding dress that is elegant and simple. It’s also possible that she might enlist her designer daughter-in-law Stella McCartney to create a gown for the occasion.

When asked about it, Ms Shevell said: “Exactly how dressy do you get to stand before a Justice of the Peace in his chambers? Which is exactly what we’re doing.”

Lavish Delhi Wedding Defies Congress Calls to Cut Spending

The Hindu marriage ceremony of Lalit Tanwar and Yogita Jaunapuria on Tuesday night at a family farmhouse near Delhi has been reported to have raised the bar in extravagance.

It took 1000 workers 40 days to prepare the venue. The celebration included 100 dishes (no meat or alcohol were served as per Hindu tradition) and 12 giant TV screens to broadcast proceedings.

The exact details of the wedding which united two prominent political families have been fiercely disputed. Some reports say 18,000 guests were in attendance, others put the figure closer to 30,000. The Times of India calculated the total cost of the occasion at $21.68 million, while the Mail Today quoted $55 million.

The groom himself wore a garland made of banknotes and received a helicopter as a gift. His barber was also awarded a $5,500 gift.

The lavish occasion went ahead despite pleas from Sonia Gandhi, the Congress party leader, for government members and affiliates to cut back on spending.

It has also been reported that in addition to the main event, millions were spent on celebrations beforehand.

Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress on Display

The public is to get a further taste of the glamorous Royal Wedding – Kate Middleton’s wedding dress is to go on public display at Buckingham Palace this summer, for anyone keen to relive the happy day and take a closer look at her iconic gown.

The new Buckingham Palace display will open on the 23rd of July until October, and the famous dress is expected to be the star attraction. It was created by Sarah Burton of the late Alexander McQueen’s studio using centuries-old craft techniques.

The garment’s highly detailed embroidery and handmade lace are widely considered to have been a triumph – visitors to the Palace will be free to study its exceptional beauty at close range.

The satin and lace shoes that complimented the gown, also made by Ms Burton’s team, will be included in the display, as will the Queen Mother’s 1936 Cartier tiara and the diamond oak leaf and acorn earrings. The latter incorporates the Middleton family’s new coat of arms that had been commissioned by the bride’s parents as a wedding gift.

Last but not least, Royal fans will also be able to view the tiered fruit cake, adorned with sugar flowers, that was created for the occasion by the cake designer Fiona Cairns.

Celebrities Katherine Jenkins and Gethin Jones to Tie The Knot

Celebrity opera singer Katherine Jenkins today announced her official engagement to Gethin Jones on Twitter – the wedding is planned for next year.

A former Blue Peter presenter, Gethin Jones met his wife-to-be in 2007 on Strictly Come Dancing, where he was a contestant and Ms Jenkins was due to perform. They have been dating ever since.

Last year they sparked wedding speculation by buying a £4.7 million property together in London.

Gethin got down on bended knee at the end of the couple’s holiday on the Mexico coast last month and presented Katherine with a diamond engagement ring from Bond Street Jewellers Goode and Son, which the 30-year-old opera star is said to be thrilled with.

Although they both have busy work schedules over the coming year, the pair are keen to get their wedding preparations underway. A source close to the couple has said they are planning a “fun, wild wedding.”

Since both are from South Wales, it is likely they will secure a Welsh venue.

Glossy magazine deals for the wedding are likely to be refused, as both Katherine and Gethin are closely guarded about their relationship.
